The stories of these PEOPLE
We believe that each human was created to meet a calling that will change the world for the better. For those that have hit hard circumstances, it's as simple as getting a basic need met to give them acceleration on God's journey.
It's interesting, there are so many items being requested through GratiGive. Some basic and some seemingly impossible to fulfill. With each need that comes in we are learning more about how GratiGive's can better serve the Denver community and refining our model. First and foremost, it's our intention to provide people with needs that will help them get unstuck.
At first glance, some requests seem easy/basic like toiletries, white t-shirts, a towel, etc. Others feel are more complex because asking for money can seem like a 'hand out' rather than a 'hand up.' We understand that it can be difficult to give things away (like your grandmother's dishes, baby clothes, money, etc.) when you don't know if the circumstances align with your values or the person you are helping. We are learning how to navigate the requests and it's our goal to start telling the stories of these people so that YOU know who and what you are impacting.
Two weeks ago we had a request come in for a washer and dryer. We were less than confident it would be fulfilled... and God's work unfolded before our eyes. In a matter of a couple of days the family desperately needing the washer and dryer was blessed.
This Facebook post says it all.
I later learned that the woman who donated the washer and dryer set is currently working on navigating her way out of a painful relationship. She's rebuilding her finances and making choices to create a positive environment for herself. I have no words for her generosity. The seeds she has sown into Don and his family will certainly bless her in return.
We know it's not always convenient to donate but the impacts you help create are HUGE!
A highlight of the items donated in the last two weeks:
• Twin bed frame
• Washer and Dryer
• Baby clothes for a grandma who is caring for her 1 year old granddaughter
• Toiletries for more than 8 people
• Jeans
• White t-shirts
• Household items
